Li-ion Battery Tariff News: Exclusion Granted

Li-ion Battery Tariff News: Exclusion Granted

We would like to share a positive development with respect to the trade tariffs imposed on the importation of Li-ion batteries from China to the United States. In mid-June, the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) announced that the current Section 301 tariff of 7.5% will be relieved through the exclusion process. Li-ion rechargeable batteries, such as those manufactured by Phasium, are on the list for tariff relief.

This exclusion, formally published in the linked Federal Register notice, covers “Lithium-ion batteries of a form other than size designations of the International Electrotechnical Commission (“IEC”) or the American National Standards Institute (“ANSI”), each producing not more than 45 V, with a capacity of at least 6,000 milliamp hours (mAh) but not more than 10 A hours (described in statistical reporting number 8507.60.0020).” https://ustr.gov/sites/default/files/enforcement/301Investigations/%24300_Billion_Exclusions_Granted_June.pd

As a critical supplier, Phasium supports our Medical OEM customers’ needs for power supplies, batteries and battery chargers. If you have questions about how this new development may effect your products, please contact us at: 408-260-7211 or power@phasiumpower.com
